OVP distributes relief boxes to typhoon-displaced families in Rizal Province

MANILA – The Office of the Vice President (OVP) has distributed relief boxes to families displaced by heavy floodings due to Typhoon Enteng in the Province of Rizal.

Through the OVP’s Disaster Operations Center (DOC), close to 600 families were given assistance during the agency’s simultaneous relief operations along different evacuation centers located in Antipolo City and the Municipality of Taytay.

In Antipolo City, about 451 relief boxes were given to affected families residing in eight evacuation centers in Barangay San Jose.

Each relief box contains basic necessities such as hygiene kits, blankets, sleeping mats, mosquito nets (kulambo), slippers, expandable water jugs, and other needed necessities.

Aside from relief boxes, more than 1,800 canned goods were also given to affected residents in Antipolo

Meanwhile, about 141 families have received relief boxes from the OVP-DOC—mostly residing temporarily at Exodus Elementary School and Bagong Pag-Asa Daycare Center.

The OVP-DOC leads all disaster response activities of the agency and coordinates closely with local Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Councils (DRRMC).

Earlier, the OVP-DOC has deployed its ‘Kalusugan Food Truck’ in the said province to aid health workers and disaster responders who are currently rendering assistance to residents affected by massive flash floods brought by the onslaught of Enteng.

The OVP Kalusugan Food Truck was dispatched in the Municipality of Morong, wherein it has provided hot meals and drinking water to the first responders assigned at the flood-hit Rizal Provincial Hospital and Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (MDRRMO) of the said locality.
