OVP-DOC assists fire victims in Manila, La Union

The Office of the Vice President (OVP) on February 6 extended assistance to over 400 families affected by a fire incident in Barangay 310, C.M. Recto, Sta. Cruz, Manila.

The OVP-Disaster Operations Center (OVP-DOC) distributed Relief Bags (RBs) to 450 displaced families temporarily seeking shelter at the barangay's covered court. Through the OVP Kalusugan Food Trucks, the OVP-DOC also provided 370 hot meals to other volunteers, such as social workers and barangay officials in the area.

Authorities reported that the fire was caused by a resident's computer overheating on January 31.

In a separate activity, the OVP on January 26-27 provided assistance to 1,900 vendors affected by a fire at the San Fernando Public Market in Barangay Poro, La Union. The OVP Pangasinan Satellite Office facilitated the distribution of 25-kilogram sacks of rice to the affected individuals. A total of 47,500 kilograms of rice were distributed by the OVP.
