OVP-DOC brings help to calamity victims

The Office of the Vice President (OVP) remains steadfast in its commitment to extend assistance to Filipinos affected by various calamities.

From December 9 to 10, the OVP provided aid to farmers affected by the El Niño phenomenon in Misamis Oriental. Led by the OVP Disaster Operations Center (DOC), along with BARRM and Caraga Satellite Offices, and in coordination with the local government of Magsaysay town, food bags reached some 3,500 families in 25 barangays.

The OVP, led by the Cebu, Bohol, and Siquijor (CBS) Satellite Office, also provided assistance to families affected by a fire in Barangay Pusok, Lapu-Lapu City, Cebu, on December 16.

The OVP-DOC and CBS Satellite Office worked together to distribute 1,000 relief bags to residents of Sitio Sta. Maria and Sitio Seaside in the said barangay. The December 13 fire displaced some 600 families.

In response to the Magnitude 6.8 earthquake that struck Sarangani, Davao Occidental on November 17, the OVP-DOC, with help from the local government and the Department of Education’s Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Services, distributed relief bags to a total of 1,387 families in Barangays Kalbay and Balangonan in Davao Occidental, as well as in Sarangani Island, Balut Island and Glan in Sarangani Province, and General Santos City.
