The OVP - Eastern Visayas Satellite Office planted 1,500 mangroves in Barangay Salvacion, Santa Rita, Samar on May 4, 2024.

Partnering with the OVP were representatives from the Municipal Environment and Natural Resources Office Santa Rita, Community Environment and Natural Resources Office, Santa Rita Municipal Police Station, Santa Rita Bureau of Fire and Protection, Rescue Recon 102, Santa Rita SK Federation, Tomandog Elementary School Faculty, JCI Santa Rita, Korea International Cooperation Agency, Local Youth Development Council, and Barangay Officials of Salvacion and Santan.

Mangroves are crucial in mitigating the risk of coastal flooding and serve as habitats for various marine animals.

This initiative is part of the OVP's PagbaBAGo: A Million Trees Campaign aimed at environmental conservation through nationwide tree planting.
