Vice President Sara Duterte was the speaker in the Philippine Commission on Women and UN Women International Women's Day Celebration at the Samsung Theater, SM Aura, Taguig City on March 8.

Duterte paid tribute to the Filipino women who tirelessly and selflessly serve our country and fellow Filipinos.

The Vice President also shared the story of Peace 911, a project for the former stronghold of the New People's Army in Paquibato District in Davao City.

Through community projects led by local lumad women, the community has eventually freed themselves from the impact of insurgency and has since been declared insurgency-free.

The implementation of Peace 911 was made possible through the help of peace advocate and Mindanawon women empowerment initiator, Inday Irene Santiago.

In her message, the Vice President said:

"Let us stand together in our common aspirations for inclusive development and remain at the forefront of social transformation for the benefit of women, children, youth, and other vulnerable groups."
