Vice President Sara Duterte on April 12 joined the people of Santa Maria town in Laguna in the celebration of the 10th Santa Maria Marilag Festival.
In her speech, the Vice President paid tribute to Filipino farmers for their sacrifice, devotion, and support for the growth of the agricultural industry in the country.
Santa Maria is known as the "food basket" of Laguna.
She also asked the residents of Santa Maria to support her advocacy to protect children against forces that could harm their future.
“Protecting Filipino children is protecting the Philippines,” she said.
Duterte also told Santa Maria residents that OVP is ready to provide entrepreneurial assistance to qualified residents through the Magnesgoy Ta 'Day (MTD) program.
Last March, Duterte launched the nationwide implementation of MTD in San Pedro, Laguna — in time for the observance of Women’s Month.
MTD aims to provide economic opportunities to women, members of LGBTQI + community, and other vulnerable sectors by offering them livelihood opportunities.
