Vice President Sara Duterte was Kapitan Tomas Monteverde Sr. Central Elementary School’s book reader during its National Reading Month launch.

When asked what she would read during the launch, the Vice President decided to write her own children’s book. She wrote “Isang Kaibigan,” which tells the story of a parrot helping an owl rebuild her nest after it was destroyed by a typhoon.

The desire to write a book has been with the Vice President since her law school days, but it wasn't until now that she found a story worth telling.

After reading it to the kindergarten students, she signed and donated the very first copy of the book to the school, hoping that more students will have the opportunity to read it.

The Vice President also plans to produce copies of her book which will be donated to libraries and schools.
